Work Sessions – January 2025

In January 2025, SWAT’s planned work sessions are scheduled for the mornings of Sunday 12th and Sunday 26th, from 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. with refreshments at the SWAT shipping containers afterwards.

Torchlit Parade

Stewarton’s 2024 Torchlit Parade is due to take place on the evening of Monday, 30th December. Organised by the Bonnet Guild, the Parade will start at 7 p.m. and travel from Torrance Garage in High Street to Lainshaw Woods, where there will be a bonfire and fireworks display.

Autumn Fungi

While in and around Lainshaw Woods on Sunday, 17th November, two SWAT volunteers came across several types of fungi. Some examples are shown below. All photos are by C. Hinchliffe unless stated otherwise.

Volunteers Meeting on 26th Sep

A SWAT Volunteers meeting will be held on the evening of Thursday, 26th September to review current and planned activities. The meeting is scheduled to take place in The Community Hub, Rigg Street, Stewarton at 7 p.m.

A Circular Tour of Stewarton

Part of the Ayrshire Walking and Wheeling Festival When: 29th September 2024 from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm Overview: A circular walk encompassing most of the town using woodland and riverside paths and some pavements. Kilmaurs Walking Festival

The 2024 Kilmaurs Walking Festival will include a walk around Stewarton led by SWAT Volunteers. Entitled ‘Lainshaw Woods & The Annick Water’, this circular walk will take place on Saturday 31st August at 9.30 a.m. and will be around 5 miles long, taking approximately 2.5 hours. Planned Path Repairs

Some repairs to paths in Lainshaw Woods are scheduled to be carried out by QTS Group commencing Tuesday, 10th September 2024. Please keep an eye out for diversion and warning signs while the works are in progress over the following weeks.
